Seattle City Flag is a Seattle Civic Art non-profit that has previously received grant funding from the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture to contemporize the city flag of Seattle. Our mission is to champion inclusive public art in partnership with the community and City of Seattle, fostering unity, mutual respect, and goodwill. Through civic symbolism, we offer resources to help Seattleites reach their full potential.

Role Description

This is a volunteer hybrid role located in Seattle, WA to join the Seattle City Flag Board of Directors with the flexibility to work from home. We're seeking a strategic and passionate Director of Philanthropy to lead our fundraising initiatives and strengthen donor relationships. This role will be instrumental in expanding our community impact and securing sustainable funding for our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with our community-focused mission
  • Build and nurture relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners
  • Lead grant writing efforts and manage the grant application process
  • Create and implement donor stewardship programs to ensure long-term engagement
  • Collaborate with board members and leadership to identify and pursue funding opportunities
  • Design and oversee fundraising events that reflect our community-centered approach
  • Establish metrics and reporting systems to track fundraising effectiveness
  • Partner with marketing team to craft compelling donor materials and impact stories

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in community-focused organizations
  • Proven track record of securing major gifts and managing donor relationships
  • Strong understanding of the Seattle philanthropic landscape
  • Excellence in strategic planning and project management
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with donor management systems and fundraising technologies
  • Deep appreciation for civic engagement and community building
