Corrections – Registered Nurse (RN) | Night Shift

 

Location: Huntsville, Texas

Position Overview

Seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RN) for night shift coverage in a correctional healthcare environment. This role requires independence, professionalism, and the ability to perform confidently in a fast-paced, highly structured setting.

Contract Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks (continuous employment with extensions expected)
• Start Date: Weekend orientation once fully cleared by credentialing
• Shift: Nights – 5:45 PM to 6:15 AM
• Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
  • 36 hours guaranteed weekly
  • 48-hour rotations may be offered but are not guaranteed
  • Flexibility is required

Orientation

• Weekend orientation following full clearance

• Orientation Dates: January 24th & 25th

   

Scheduling & Overtime

• Work Week: Saturday – Friday (used for OT calculation)

• Scheduling: 4-week block schedules released by the 20th of each month

   

Floating Requirements (Mandatory)

• Floating required as needed
• Float assignments may be 10–30 minutes , occasionally up to 50 miles
• Drive time up to 30 minutes is compensated through punch correction
• Rare mid-shift transfers may occur

Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Texas RN license or Compact RN license
• BLS required

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• At least 1 year of Acute Care or Med-Surg experience required
• LTAC, ER, Skilled Nursing, and/or Psych experience preferred
• Travelers from home health or hospice may succeed but are less common
