Job Description

St. Luke’s Episcopal School seeks an innovative and engaging Middle School Math Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. This individual will be responsible for teaching math across two grade levels in our A/B block schedule, fostering a deep understanding of mathematical concepts while encouraging problem-solving, critical thinking, and a love for learning. The ideal candidate will have a love of middle school education and students, be passionate about their subject, adept at differentiating instruction, and committed to the mission and values of SLES. Additionally, the teacher will serve as a grade-level advisor, providing mentorship and guidance to students in their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

Teach middle school math courses, including Algebra and Geometry, ensuring alignment with school curriculum and best practices.

• Develop and implement engaging, student-centered lesson plans that challenge and support all
• Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely and meaningful feedback.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that nurtures students' intellectual and social-emotional growth.
• Serve as a grade-level advisor, supporting students' academic progress, character development, and well-being.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-disciplinary projects and align curriculum.
• Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Experience teaching middle school mathematics, including Algebra and Geometry, preferably in an independent school setting.
• Strong understanding of adolescent development and best practices in middle school education.
• A love of middle school education and students.
• Ability to integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into the classroom.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Be motivated to find ways to contribute to the life of the School through coaching, sponsoring clubs, etc.
• Sense of humor, positive attitude, and growth mindset
