Job Purpose:

As a key member of our Materials Organics Group, you will collaborate with a diverse research team to conduct comprehensive materials research and manage R-Theme projects. Your expertise will guide technical investigations, complex failure analyses, and the development of innovative solutions. You will also oversee project activities, ensuring compliance with quality and efficiency standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Utilize engineering principles and extensive knowledge of Honda vehicle designs to conduct thorough investigations and present findings to technical management.
  • Lead large research projects, managing resources, schedules, and budgets while mentoring team members to meet quality and specification targets.
  • Create and communicate development plans, ensuring alignment with global and regional priorities.
  • Act as project leader for significant development models, coordinating resources and negotiating design modifications.
  • Conduct project testing and evaluations, interfacing with design engineers to propose necessary design changes.
  • Direct new supplier qualification activities, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and efficiency improvements within the team.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience with a BS or MS degree.
  • Mastery of skills and techniques in your area of expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of HRA design processes and standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient in project management and process improvement.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel: 1-2 times per month, potentially including international travel.
  • Physical: Primarily lab-based work with frequent physical activity, including lifting 20-50 lbs.
  • Hazards: Exposure to various testing environments, including potential risks associated with chemicals and equipment.
  • Overtime: Expected based on project demands.
