Role Summary:

As the External Communications Strategist at Gesa Credit Union, you will be the driving force behind our communications with external stakeholders, including members, commercial members, partners, vendors, and media outlets. This position will lead our Public Relations strategy, working closely with our PR vendor and various business units to uncover and share impactful stories that resonate across our regional markets. What You Will Be Doing:

  • Craft and finalize compelling corporate communications for external stakeholders, ensuring every message aligns with our corporate brand voice and mission
  • Build and nurture relationships with members, partners, vendors, and media outlets, acting as the face of the credit union’s external communications
  • Help oversee the relationship with our PR team, developing press releases, talking points, and media materials that maximize our presence across markets
  • Collaborate with business units to uncover and share impactful stories, including attending community events to capture content and develop coverage opportunities
  • Continuously seek out and implement innovative external communications tactics, ensuring the right blend of tone, channels, and strategies to enhance knowledge flow and reputation
  • Work with internal stakeholders to create engaging multimedia content, including videos, that supplement and elevate our PR efforts
  • Work closely with various business units to understand their communication needs, define requirements, and deliver high-quality end products that reflect best practices and past learnings
  • Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent, professional image
  • Conduct audits of all external communications, developing frameworks and governance processes to streamline workflows and ensure consistency
  • Educate the organization on new communication processes, ensuring everyone understands the how, why, and what of these changes
  • Manage non-marketing external communications, including newsletters, letters, and emails to members, partners, and vendors
  • Enhance PR effectiveness by proactively identifying and amplifying content opportunities across the credit union
  • Develop content management strategies that ensure regional, national, and local representation
  • Work closely with internal communications to align messaging and discover stories
  • Collaborate with internal teams to produce high-quality video content that supports PR initiatives
  • Establish governance processes to standardize and optimize all external communications
  • Create press materials including talking points and briefing documents

About You:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for creating clear, concise, and compelling messages that resonate
  • Proven experience in managing PR strategies and vendor relationships, with a knack for uncovering and amplifying great stories
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with various business units and external partners, fostering a team-oriented environment and thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to audit communication processes and implement governance frameworks to enhance efficiency
  • Ability to create and manage high-quality content, including newsletters, emails, and videos
  • Strong analytical skills to assess communication effectiveness and implement improvements based on data-driven insights
  • Deep understanding of brand management principles, ensuring all communications reflect and enhance the credit union’s brand
  • A creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and develop innovative communication strategies

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in external communications, public relations, or a related role
  • Proficiency in communication platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools

Salary Range:

Richland WA: $28.16 - $42.24

Spokane WA: $27.29 - $40.93

Tukwila WA: $33.02 - $49.53

Lynnwood WA: $30.78 - $46.16
