Job Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the preparation and processing of payroll for 150+ employees, on a weekly and semi-monthly basis using in house payroll system. Weekly payroll is subject to Prevailing Wage for both Union and Non-Union crafts.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Review timecards for accuracy based on Prevailing Wage requirements, overtime allocation and any missed meal and/or rest periods.

·Process payroll in accordance with company policy, state and federal regulations and requirements.

· Ensure accurate and timely production of payroll payments.

· Analyze all payroll reports and paystubs for accuracy, to include prevailing wage calculation and fringe rates.

· Monthly Union fringe payments calculated and remitted to various Unions.

· Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, etc.

· Review all timesheets and edit reports for accuracy

· Track and deduct all garnishments and other payroll deductions

· Calculate and issue final wages for terminations

· Prepare manual/make up paychecks as necessary

· Answer payroll related questions including, wage deductions and fringe benefits

· Perform regular payroll reporting as needed for audits related to pay records.

· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

· 3+ years payroll experience

· 3+ years construction payroll experience – MUST have understanding of union agreements and processing union payrolls; prevailing wages

· Knowledge or proficiency in Vista accounting software a plus

· Proficient in Windows including Excel, Outlook and Word

· Strong attention to detail, detail oriented

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

· Self-motivated and proactive solution seeker

· An outgoing, positive attitude while working alone and with a team, with both internal and external customers

The Payroll Specialist is expected to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. An outstanding candidate will also have excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.

Position requires satisfactory completion of a physical ability test and clean drug and alcohol screening.
