Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage tournament event webpage (general info/graphics/pre-registration/rules and prizes)
  • Oversee tournament in person check in/registration seeding and tournament fee payments
  • Assist with tournament equipment setup and breakdown
  • Main Tournament Organizer for Collegiate and Open Bracket. Call out matches on open tournament stations. Update bracket results and record characters used. Assign matches to be livestreamed.
  • Oversee and provide commentary for livestream.
  • Selecting players to represent UHE in the Smash and/or Overwatch Collegiate event.
  • Assist with other event duties as needed by UHE.
  • Oversee team tryouts and team interviews
  • Schedule and assist with team meetings and team practice
  • Scout opposing teams for information and preparation
  • Head Coach for all UHE Smash Team and/or Overwatch team online and LAN events
  • Assist with individual practice and VOD reviews as needed
  • Main tournament organizer for Manoa Monthlies at UH iLab


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in navigating and utilizing the StartGG tournament website
  • Knowledgeable of competitive Super Smash Bros and/or Overwatch (tournament formats/rules/metagames/player seeding)
  • Knowledgeable in tournament and livestream setup/breakdown
  • Proficient in tournament advertising


Desirable Qualifications:

  • 15 years experience in organizing/overseeing offline video game tournaments
  • 15 years experience community leader/representative for the Hawaii Smash Community
  • 5 years experience coaching Smash esports teams
  • 10 years experience coaching Smash in general
  • 10 years experience livestreaming and commentating video game tournaments
