Epsilon Systems is seeking a full time Welder II in Portsmouth, VA.
Summary: Performs various welding processes to repair, modify and install various pipes, structures, foundations and fittings associated with shipboard hydraulic, pneumatic and water systems.
Responsibilities:
\n - Reports directly to the Production Manager. Once assigned, reports directly to the project Foreman in the performance of his/her responsibilities.
\n - Strictly adheres to corporate, federal, state and local safety regulations prior to setting up or operating any machinery.
\n - Ensures that all Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn and that all damaged PPE is discarded. Read and understand Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group PPE Policy.
\n - Reads and interprets blueprints to plan setup and operation of the machine shop equipment prior to commencing the operation.
\n - Lays out material prior to performing machining operations to prevent possible errors.
\n - Machines parts to close tolerances ensuring finish requirements of the drawings are achieved.
\n - Maintains good housekeeping practices; turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste properly, sweeping the area, etc.
\n - Ensures that all requirements of the Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Quality Assurance Manual are followed when invoked by QA Workbook, Work Package (WP), Work Instructions (WI) and/or other guidance given by management.
\n - Follows detailed repair procedures and instructions (e.g.; QA packages steps, RECs, CWPs, FWPs, TGIs etc.) required completing the production operations.
\n - Notifies Foreman of any unsatisfactory condition(s) identified during the production operation (i.e.; repair, modification, etc.).
\n - Reads and understands basic terminology, blueprints, drawings and schematics to plan installation, modification or repair prior to commencing the process.
\n - Fabricates and installs fixtures, jigs, supports and targets to ensure proper alignment during welding processes.
\n - Selects welding filler materials, joint design, proper heat ranges and most effective or required welding process/procedure to ensure quality welding operations IAW TWD.
\n - Ensures control and assumes responsibility for Level I material controls in accordance with Epsilon Systems Mission Readiness Group Instructions.
\n - Selects proper materials and requirements to perform welding functions.
\n - Performs work outside of trade if necessary.

Qualifications:
\n - High school diploma/equivalent.
\n - 3 years' experience working under a skilled welder.
\n - Has knowledge of the trade qualifications and performs as an Welder II.
\n - Must be able to understand and perform the basic set up, adjustment, and operation of various welding equipment and hand tools used in the trade.
\n - Ability to properly select welding filler material, joint design and proper heat ranges as directed by Technical Work Documents.
\n - Ability to use grinding and cutting tools.
\n - Communicates effectively, work independently or in a group.
\n - Ability to do basic math, i.e. add, subtract, divide and multiply.
\n - Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
\n - Ability to read and understand basic terminology, blueprints, drawings and schematics to plan installation, modification or repair prior to commencing the process.
\n - Ability to perform the following hot work operations: Plasma Arc Cutting, Carbon Arc Cutting, Oxygen/Acetylene Cutting, SMAW.
\n - Must be qualified in a minimum of 5 welding/brazing processes.
\n - Ability to obtain and maintain access to US Navy ships and government/private facilities.
\n - Must be able to travel

\n - Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional and loud noises.
\n - Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).
\n - Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.
\n - Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects.
\n - Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
\n - Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.
\n - May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
