Job Description

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a Video Editor to create a wide range of quality video content to support our growing marketing efforts.

The ideal candidate is highly creative, innovative, collaborative and passionate about creating best-in-class video experiences across our brands.

As a member of our in-house video team, you will be responsible for creating inspiring video content that advances our brand presence and engages with our key audiences: Educators, parents, and students. From how-to videos, product ads, customer testimonials, to social content and more, you will take a hands-on approach and own much of the post-production process from start to finish. Your passion for storytelling—along with your impressive editing chops—will successfully address our customers’ needs and our high-reaching marketing goals.

This is a full-time position in our San Mateo, CA headquarters office. The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday in the office with the option to work from home one day per week.

To apply, please include a link to your most recent video portfolio. Submissions without a portfolio link will not be considered.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Edit highly engaging short and long-form video content including live action testimonials, animated how-to videos, promos, ads and more with a mix of text, graphics, animations, and audio
  • Work both independently and as a collaborative team player, partnering with a solid team of marketers, product managers and more to bring shared visions to life, source assets, and hone in on the perfect story in the edit
  • Champion fresh ideas that prioritize storytelling and visual styles that elevate our brand presence and speak to our core values
  • Capture and integrate clean screen recordings that present our products in the best light
  • Ideate and build content templates and formats that are scalable
  • Curate and organize footage, music, and media for assembly edits and multiple formats
  • Work with the video team to continuously refine and improve our post-production standards and processes
  • Work closely with the Video Production Manager to ensure edits are reviewed and projects are prioritized
  • Opportunity to support other tasks as needed, such as developing video content ideas and assisting on video shoots

What We're Looking For

  • BA/BS degree
  • 2-4 years of solid video editing experience in a professional environment
  • Visual skills: Your work demonstrates a strong grasp of graphic design principles and you have solid experience editing high quality graphics-heavy videos
  • Editing skills: Your portfolio demonstrates a strong understanding and application of the fundamentals of video editing including pacing, rhythm, compression of time, and the deliberate use of transitions and audio cues to influence story
  • You are an accomplished team player as much as you are a resourceful self-starter—you jump at the chance to support your team and proactively work to get the job done and delivered on time
  • Communication: You excel at explaining your work, talking through internal feedback, collaborating on ideas and proactively reaching out to stakeholders for guidance and review
  • Problem solver: You welcome innovation and risk-taking, always eager to learn new techniques and where you can be more efficient when faced with creative challenges
  • Technical expertise: You’re a fast, efficient, organized editor and you're an expert with Premiere Pro
  • Technical proficiency: You know your way around After Effects, Media Encoder, Audition, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Audio skills: You understand the important role audio plays in every project, from sourcing music tracks and procuring voice-overs to creating a clean mix
  • You are driven by an attention to detail and the desire for a flawless final product
  • Experience in other areas of video production, including lighting and/or filming is a plus
  • Experience in the education, edtech, or language learning spaces is a plus
