The Job You Will Perform:

The Training Coordinator is responsible for providing primary support to the department for the training program, including New Hire Integration, department orientation, position/skill block training and certification, training materials management and training documentation. The Training Coordinator ensures consistency of the training program for all area team members and alignment with department goals. As the champion/advocate for the training program, this role is an integral part of the department team and interacts directly with Team Members in Training, Trainers, Mentors, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and department leadership. The Department Learning Leader gets direction from the department leadership and the Mill Learning Leader, but will report directly to the Mill Learning Leader

Key Responsibilities:

Safety

• Ensures corporate and mill safety information (policy, rules, procedures, expectations, etc.) is adequately covered in the mill’s training program, including New Hire Integration (NHI) and all training content 
• Understands importance of and complies with Mill safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices
• Acts as a role model for demonstrating correct safety and environmental behaviors (hazard recognition awareness) 
• Verifies training materials are in alignment with safety and environmental policies and practices 
• Provides support for compliance training requirements completions for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) 

Knowledge  

• Training Coordinators understand and have a working knowledge of the following theories and subjects: 
• Computer applications (including SharePoint, IPNet, Learning Management Systems (MyLearning), Microsoft Office, Fusion Platform, etc.) 
• Best practices, standards and tools for creating and delivering effective training
• Training needs analysis process 
• MPM, IEPM, and EPD training programs including tracking and reporting requirements, required attendees, etc. 
• Maintenance work structure (associates, J1 and J3), transfer policy, training and certification process 
• New Hire Integration (NHI) program 
• Enterprise New Member Evaluation (NME) process and probationary period 
• Enterprise common maintenance curriculums, lesson plans and certification process (lubrication, mechanical, electrical, etc.) 
• Position profiles, training assignments and curriculums 
• Blended learning methods and practices (classroom training; eCourse authoring) 
• Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
• Document management/control systems
• Learning organization/learning culture
• Department operations and processes 
• Department control system interfaces
• Department positions and job structures

Tasks  

• Assist in development of department training goals 
• Maintain department training scorecard 
• Champion department training vision and process
• Coach Team Members in Training, Trainers and Subject Matter Experts (SME) 
• Participate in Learner assessments, reviews and evaluations 
• Sign-off on required documentation
• Set training expectations with learner (trainee) 
• Identify and coach On the Job (OJT)/task Trainers and SMEs (in regards to their training responsibilities) 
• Evaluate and provide New Hire and Transferred Team Member performance feedback to First Line Leaders (FLL) and Managers
• Evaluate and provide skills performance feedback on qualified Maintenance team members to First Line Leaders (FLL) and Managers 
• Provide timely constructive 1-to-1 feedback to Learners as well as Trainers and designated managers 
• Identify and address training barriers in training progress 
• Propose actions and activities to address identified training barriers 
• Participate in the development of Individual Development Plans for Department Team Members 
• Track and give recognition for team member training milestones 
• Identify and schedule refresher training for department members where applicable 
• Manage and maintain the department training program 
• Participate in department training team (steering committees) meetings 
• Develop and regularly update department training plans
• Assist department managers to identify training needs proactively 
• Schedule and perform “refresher training” based on training program standards and requirements 
• Coordinate and conduct training classes (New Hire Integration topics, department orientation, etc.) 
• Manage job position training plans and timelines by tracking training days/hours 
• Ensure job training qualification and certification process is followed
• Ensure consistency of training process and materials, and alignment with enterprise training process standards 
• Perform Post Certification Reviews in accordance with enterprise expectations
• Participate self-audits on the training process 
• Take advantage of upset conditions as teaching opportunities (immediate or as follow-up; i.e. ensure others are not solving the issues rather than working with and educating the learner/operator) 
• Assist in the development of training for Capital Projects in the department 
• Create and Manage Training Records
• Maintain accurate training records for each department member (electronic and required hardcopies) 
• Provide reports on training progress and completion, individual training refresher needs, and department compliance training completion (as needed or requested) 
• Provide reports for 3rd Party audits (such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)) 
• Track and document required sign-offs and training for changes (Management of Change Process, MOCs)
• Use Learning Management Systems (LMS) to assign training (MyLearning) 
• Ensure that training hours are tracked for each learner (trainee) 
• Develop and Maintain Training Material
• Identify and address gaps in training materials (site specific) 
• Coordinate development of department specific training materials including standard operating procedures (SOPs), trouble cause and correction documents (TCCs), eCourses, reference documents, learning activities, instructor lead presentations, etc. as needed using operators and management’s input, and following enterprise standards and best practice examples 
• Ensure updates to material is captured from upset condition learnings (within the department and others) 
• Adhere to document control policy and standards
• Develop learning exercises and activities, including hands-on demonstrations 
• Collect and convert information from subject matter experts into quality training material 
• Communicate and coordinate retraining due to procedure changes/MOCs/Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) action items/etc. 
• Ensure feedback from training is properly captured, addressed and communicated in a timely manner
