Job Description
Position Title: Tool & Die Technician
Wage: $35.00/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm, Overtime as Needed
We are searching for Tool & Die Technicians for a 1st shift role located in North Kansas City, MO. This role will be a direct-hire opportunity. Required experience includes die changes, material changes, crane operations, program changes, die adjustments, record keeping and preventative maintenance procedures. Tool & Die Technician Responsibilities: - Supervise and maintain operations of hoists and cranes to perform material movement
- Enter program into machines as required from production control schedules
- Confer with the Maintenance Manager and Production Supervisor to establish die change schedules and follows up to assure completion of those schedules
- Maintain processes for die repairs
- Ensures press parameters are within control limits
- Make limited processing changes and record data
- Collect or select samples for testing or for use models
- Meet with department supervisors or other personnel to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications
- Support the implementation, achievement, and maintenance of the Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures
- Supervise welding, grinding, operate cranes, machining and fabrication
- Supervise machining, finishing, assembly and tuning of dies
- Perform die modifications for surface quality and accuracy
- Adhere to ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 procedures and work instructions
- Review and audit log book entries to communicate activities, issues and progress of die work
Requirements for Tool & Die Technician: - High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least three years of practical knowledge in die maintenance / mechanical repairs
- At least one year of experience in a tool room environment
- At least one year of experience in machining and welding
- Previous supervisory experience a plus
- Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) experience
- Crane Safety Certified Training
- Prior experience in the steel, aluminum or automotive industry is a plus
- Able to pass certification of power industrial equipment (hilo, manlift, crane)
- Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong technical capacity to perform required repairs / maintenance while following safety protocol
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Experience building and/or maintaining high volume casting (or stamping) dies, welding ability and machining
- Experience in industrial maintenance and/or military experience
- Some electrical and mechanical knowledge
- Demonstrated success in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation
