Job Description

The Senior Electrical Designer is a highly skilled professional responsible for leading the design and development of electrical systems, ensuring that projects meet both technical specifications and client requirements. This role involves working closely with engineers, drafters, and other stakeholders to create electrical designs for complex systems and infrastructure. Senior Electrical Designers are expected to take on leadership roles in project execution, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Create electrical installation details, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, area classification, and grounding.
• Size and specify electrical equipment including raceways, fittings, panels, conductors, terminations, etc.
• Walk down a site, collecting all necessary information to perform design work.
• Troubleshoot and commission medium voltage electrical equipment.
• Collaborate with a design team of engineers and drafters to produce a complete drawing installation package.
• Field experience with medium voltage (2.5kV and above) electrical equipment such as switchgear, motor control centers, transformers
• Experience designing medium voltage electrical equipment.
• Practical field experience with the installation of medium voltage electrical equipment
• Field experience commissioning and/or troubleshooting medium voltage electrical equipment.
• Practical field experience routing cable
• Familiar with NEC and other electrical-related codes and standards
• Knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD

Education and/or Experience

• 7+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer
• Experience with electrical area classification
• Programming experience in any of these areas:
  • EasyPower
  • Reclosers
  • Protective relays
  • PLC's
