JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Route Supervisor will supervise, coordinate and control the daily activities of commercial collection routes. GME/AVW supervisors are expected to communicate critical information to drivers in the field and provide them with direction regarding daily assignments and adjustments to the daily schedule. Supervisors will need to provide the necessary information to management in order to schedule appropriate deployment of manpower and equipment needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, update and assign daily route schedules.
- Daily check-in of driver personnel to ensure paperwork is complete and accurate .
- Process paperwork including but not limited to maintaining driver activities in computer systems, activity reports/trip documents, driver logs, fuel tickets and other required paperwork.
- Reassigns work as necessary on an ongoing basis to maximize efficiency of routes.
- Conducts route observations to ensure adherence to company standards of safety and operation.
- Responsible for resolution of customer complaints and timely recovery of missed pickups.
- Interact with custom ers to solve and rectify an y issues and im prove the overa ll custom er experience.
- Serve as a positive rep resentative of the Com pan y to drive custom e r satisfaction an d lo ya lty to the Com pa ny.
- Establish productivity g oals whe re needed ; ensu re adherence to operatin g standards; an d m anage labor hou rs and disposal expenses per established and agreed pla ns.
- Lead drivers to exceed p roductivity goa ls and expe cta tions for a ll routes.
- Create, m od ify , and im prove routes to m axim ize de nsity an d im prove efficie n cy.
- Create a collab orative, com m unicative team environm ent and d rive em p loye e engagem ent with the Com pa ny.
- Build and deve lop ta lent on the team , unde rstand em ployees’ career goals a nd provide coaching to ge t em ployees ready for adva ncem ent with the Com pa ny.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory commercial experience.
- Class B CDL is required .
- High School Diploma is a requirement, some college is preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
- Experience in using multiple software packages including the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous waste industry experience is preferred, but not required .
- Available to work 6 days per week.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The normal setting for this position is operating a commercial sanitation vehicle and as such, this work is performed outdoors, with exposure in all seasonal weather conditions, including heat, snow, cold, rain, and wind.
- Safety is of the utmost importance as incumbent is required to enter and exit the vehicle frequently .
- Incumbent is frequently exposed to noise, vibration, dirt, dust, grease, and foul odors.
- The work requires mandatory use of personal protective equipment (including gloves, high visibility vests and uniforms).
- Exposure to moving automobile traffic while working outside the truck and working in highly congested traffic areas.
