We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Per Diem Orthopedic APP to join our team in the Redwood City area. This individual will primarily be based at our Redwood City location but may be required to cover other locations as needed. The focus of this role will be on Total joints, sports, and acute injury cases, providing high-quality care to our patients.

As a Per Diem Orthopedic APP, you will work 3-5 shifts per month, with each shift lasting 8 hours. This schedule allows for flexibility while maintaining a consistent workload. We value work-life balance and do not require weekend shifts, making this an ideal opportunity for those seeking a weekday schedule. There will be no nights or weekends required.

Candidates with over 3 years of orthopedic experience are preferred. The ideal candidate should be able to work effectively as part of a team and possess the ability to take initiative and be self-led. You will be responsible for conducting patient assessments, providing treatment, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.

A Brief Overview

The Physician Assistant (PA) functions under this Physician Assistant Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Specific functions are established by the PA and supervising physician(s), and approved by the medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, the Credentials & Privileges Committee, the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Committee, and the SHC Board Credentials, Policies and Procedures Committee.

What you will do

  • Abide by all Joint Commission requirements including sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients rights, safety, emergency management, teamwork, respect, ongoing education, communication, and compliance with safety and quality programs.
  • Provide only those medical services you are competent to perform, consistent with your education, training, and experience.
  • Consult with a physician regarding tasks exceeding your competence or refer such cases to a supervising physician.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with acute, chronic complaints, and health maintenance concerns.
  • Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and assess findings.
  • Perform or request diagnostic studies, order medications, and coordinate patient care as per protocols.
  • Participate in surgical procedures after demonstrated competency.
  • Recognize age-specific needs and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate patient education and counseling.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited university.
  • Graduate of an accredited PA program.

  • PA State Licensure
  • BLS
  • DEA

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $91.60 - $121.38 per hour. The final salary will be based on experience, education, and other factors. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
