Summary
Plans, supervises, and participates in providing public information and access, proactive security, intervention, and law enforcement duties, ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and the public while on campus properties. Assigns and trains others as directed by the appropriate manager. Assists in the supervision of and serves as a resource to officers, front office staff, student assistants, parking enforcement, and dispatchers. Provides customer service and instructional support, and facilitates communications, among evening patrons and others including, but not limited to, instructors, students, and classified staff.
Distinguishing Career Features
The Public Safety and Evening Operations Supervisor is a leadership position and requires the ability to supervise Public Safety Representatives and support staff and to facilitate work assignments and priorities of individuals and teams of officers, as well as providing support and supervision for evening operations.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, D.E.I.A
This position requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent, and 5 years of demonstrated leadership in law enforcement or a public/private/military safety department. Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required equivalent qualifications for the position.
AND
Demonstrated evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the racial, ethnic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, academic, and cultural diversity within the community college student population, including students with different ability statuses (e.g., physical and/or learning) as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom and campus.
Licenses and Certificates
Requires a valid California driver license. Requires current First Aid and CPR cards.
Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors and outdoors where safety and health considerations exist from temperature extremes, physical effort, and dangerous incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
Possession of a P.O.S.T. Certificate.
Possession of a P.O.S.T. Supervisory/ Management Certificate.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, 12-months per year classified management position. The normal hours for work are Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, with some flexibility in order to meet the needs of the department. Please note that these hours are subject to change. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.
