Job Summary

The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for raising Charles River’s awareness by fostering and developing a positive image of the Company to customers, employees, the news media and the public at large. Manage the day-to-day working relationship with our Public Relations (PR) agency partner. 

This position will work remotely from a home office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Manage the day-to-day relationship with the PR agency partner to drive exceptional program results.
• Develop and support the execution of outreach strategies for Company news, thought leadership, case studies, and partnership announcements to trade and business reporters.
• Write press releases and other materials to garner media interest.
• Monitor Company, industry and competitive news and develop creative ways to insert Charles River into conversations through compelling thought leadership.
• Develop and manage speakers’ bureau and support the development of materials for presentations and keynotes to ensure targeted messaging and positioning as a thought leader.
• Supporting and aligning with overall communications goals with the Chief Communications Officer.
• Providing strategic guidance and direction on how to utilize public relations to support business goals for Strategic Marketing.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) (in Communications, Journalism preferred)
• Experience: 1-3 years of related experience. Previous experience within a life science environment (e.g., biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device company, hospital, laboratory) highly preferred. Previous agency experience desired.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Consistent track record of excellent writing, communications and project management skills.

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $65,000K - $75,000K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

The Corporate Functions provide operational support across Charles River in areas such as Human Resources, Finance, IT, Legal, Sales, Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Corporate Development. They partner with their colleagues across the company to develop and drive strategies and to set global standards. The functions are essential to providing a bridge between strategic vision and operational readiness, to ensure ongoing functional innovation and capability improvement.
