Job Description

Do clunky social apps and disconnected social planning make you roll your eyes? Do you believe making friends as an adult shouldn’t feel like a chore? We do, too. Let’s fix that together.

Who We Are

Pie is on a mission to defeat social isolation by making it easier for people to connect, share experiences, and form lasting friendships. We’re building a platform that helps creators bring people together and makes finding things to do and people to do them with effortless—because friendships should be as easy as Pie.

From curated plans to spontaneous gatherings, Pie is designed to bring people together IRL in ways that feel natural, fun, and effortless. Whether it’s a beach day, book club, or Sunday morning pancakes, our app connects people around shared interests and meaningful moments.

At Pie, we’re not just building a product—we’re creating a movement. We want you to bring your talent, creativity, and empathy to help us reshape how the world makes friends.

Who We’re Looking for

We’re seeking a Product Designer to lead the charge in crafting intuitive, delightful experiences for our users across web and mobile platforms. You’ll play a key role in shaping how users discover, create, and connect through plans. Your work will directly impact how thousands of people make friends and find their place in a community.

Our team tackles the hard stuff—turning the complexity of social connection into simple, joyful interactions. If you’re passionate about user-centered design, thrive on collaboration, and love bringing clarity to ambiguity, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

  • Design for Impact: Create holistic, user-focused designs that enhance the experience of making and joining plans IRL.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with the VP of product, engineers, marketing and the growth team to define requirements and deliver consistent, polished designs.
  • User Research: Dive into the minds of our users through interviews, usability testing, and analytics to uncover insights that inform your work.
  • Iterate Rapidly: Prototype, test, and refine your ideas to balance user needs with business goals.
  • Develop a Design System: Contribute to and maintain a scalable, accessible design system that reflects Pie’s brand and values.
  • Champion the User: Advocate for intuitive, inclusive design solutions that meet the diverse needs of our users.
  • Experiment and Innovate: Design and test growth experiments that help users discover the magic of Pie while driving engagement.

You Are

  • Empathetic: You understand that making friends as an adult is hard, and you’re driven to make it easier.
  • Collaborative: You thrive in cross-functional teams and believe the best ideas come from working together.
  • Curious: You ask “why” and love diving into user research to uncover deeper insights.
  • Adaptable: You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and thrive in fast-paced, iterative environments.
  • Communicative: You excel at presenting your ideas clearly and articulating the “why” behind your design decisions.

What You Bring

  • A portfolio that showcases your design process and demonstrates your ability to solve real-world user problems.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility best practices.
  • Experience designing for responsive web, iOS, and Android platforms.
  • Proficiency in design tools like Figma
  • 5+ years of professional experience in product design.
  • Bonus: Experience with growth experiments, social platforms, or community-driven products.

Why Join Us?

  • Make an Impact: Your work will directly help people form meaningful connections and reduce social isolation.
  • Room to Grow: Be part of a fast-growing startup where your ideas and contributions shape the product and company culture.
  • Mission-Driven: Join a team that’s passionate about making the world a more connected and inclusive place.
  • Great Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance fully covered by the company, a 401k with company match, stipends for cell phone, transit, and gym memberships, plus flexible PTO with 12 federal holidays.

Even if you don’t check every box, we encourage you to apply! We’re excited to meet people with diverse skills and perspectives.

How to Apply

  1. Include a link to your portfolio or attach a PDF showcasing your best work. Please provide any necessary passwords to access your work.
  2. Share a link to your LinkedIn profile or resume.
  3. Tell us in a few sentences why you’re excited about joining Pie and what you’d bring to the role.

Let’s bake something amazing together! 🥧
