Job Description

An Adaptive Physical Education Teacher is sought for a K-12 educational setting in Westerville, OH, for the upcoming school year. This role focuses on providing tailored physical education programs to students with disabilities, ensuring that each individual can develop their movement abilities to the fullest.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Special Education Teachers Certificate for Adaptive Physical Education
  • Experience working with K-12 students, particularly in adaptive physical education
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with special education and general education staff

Location:

Responsibilities:

  • Identify students in need of Adaptive Physical Education services.
  • Evaluate motor and physical development abilities as part of an evaluation team.
  • Write and monitor IEPs for students qualifying for Adaptive P.E. services.
  • Attend IEP meetings to support student needs and program development.
  • Collaborate with special education, regular education, and P.E. teachers to create appropriate adaptive programs.
  • Provide an instructional program tailored to each student's individual needs.
  • Work with individuals and groups on motor skills, coordination, and social-psychological performance.
  • Adapt the regular P.E. curriculum to ensure inclusivity for Adaptive P.E. students.
  • Offer in-service training to school personnel and community members as required.
  • Maintain open communication with fellow educators and administrative staff.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Coordinator of Special Education.
