Job Description

An exciting opportunity awaits for a dedicated professional to provide essential Adaptive Physical Education services in a K-12 school setting. This role focuses on creating inclusive and supportive physical education programs tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities.

Location: Hilliard, OH

Responsibilities:

  • Identify students in need of Adaptive Physical Education services.
  • Evaluate motor and physical development abilities as part of an evaluation team.
  • Write and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for qualifying students.
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with special education, regular education, and physical education teachers to develop appropriate adaptive programs.
  • Provide instruction that aligns with individual student needs in motor skills and physical performance.
  • Adapt existing physical education curricula to ensure accessibility for all students.
  • Offer in-service training to school personnel and community members on adaptive physical education.
  • Consult with students, parents, and educational staff regarding adaptive physical education strategies and programs.
  • Maintain clear communication with building instructors and administrative staff to support student success.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Special Education.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ohio Special Education Teachers Certificate for Adaptive Physical Education.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting.
  • Strong assessment and IEP development skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of best practices in adaptive physical education.
