Job Description

An educational institution is seeking a qualified professional to provide Adaptive Physical Education services within a K-12 setting. This role focuses on developing and implementing physical education programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

• Valid Ohio Special Education Teachers Certificate for Adaptive Physical Education
• Strong background in physical education and adaptive sports
• Experience with writing and monitoring IEPs
• Ability to collaborate effectively with special education and general education staff
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of motor development and coordination strategies

Responsibilities:

• Identify students requiring Adaptive Physical Education services
• Evaluate students' motor and physical development as part of an evaluation team
• Develop and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for qualifying students
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings
• Collaborate with special education and physical education teachers to design suitable programs
• Provide instruction tailored to individual student needs
• Work with students on motor skills, coordination, and social-psychological development
• Adapt existing physical education programs for students in need of modification
• Offer in-service training to school personnel and community members as necessary
• Maintain ongoing communication with educators and administrative staff
