Job Description

Pride Health is hiring a Patient Care Assistant to support our client’s medical facility based in East Elmhurst, NY . This opportunity is a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care & Vital Monitoring : Checks vital signs, weighs and measures patients, obtains specimens, records findings, and instructs patients on specimen collection for lab tests. Performs basic screenings (e.g., dipstick, hemoccult), vision/hearing tests, and simple urinalysis.
  • Specimen Handling & Lab Coordination : Prepares and labels specimens, completes necessary forms for pickup, and retrieves lab results. Ensures specimens are handled appropriately for testing.
  • First Aid & Emergency Care : Administers basic first aid, including dressing changes, bandaging, cleansing wounds, and performing emergency life support procedures when needed.
  • Examination Assistance & Room Preparation : Prepares patients and exam rooms for medical examinations, assists the provider during exams, and ensures medical equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
  • Administrative & Communication Duties : Interviews patients to gather medical history, maintains patient charts and documents, answers inquiries, coordinates appointments, and assists in inventory management while supporting team members.

Qualifications:

  • Completed High School (Diploma or GED)
  • Completion of a NYS Department of Health prescribed training program for Phlebotomy
  • 2 years of Med/Surg experience
  • Completion of a health care setting-based training program in the performance of electrocardiographs

Additional Information:

  • Location: East Elmhurst (Queens), NY
  • Job Type: Contract
  • Schedule: 5X8 - Night 5:00 PM to 01:00 AM
  • Pay Range: $29/ hour

*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
