Job Title: Grant Writer

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer
Location: Fort Myers, FL (Hybrid/On-site flexibility)
FLSA Status: Part-time | Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Grant Writer is a vital member of the Resource Development team responsible for researching, developing, writing, and submitting grant proposals that align with BGCLC’s mission and funding priorities. This role helps secure critical funding from private foundations, corporate entities, government agencies, and other philanthropic partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Research & Strategy

• Identify prospective grant opportunities aligned with organizational needs and program goals.
• Conduct ongoing research into federal, state, and local government grants, as well as private foundation and corporate funding.
• Work closely with senior leadership and program staff to develop funding strategies and narratives.

Proposal Development

• Write clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals, letters of intent, and concept papers.
• Tailor applications to meet each funder’s guidelines and priorities.
• Collaborate with finance, programs, and executive leadership to gather data and budgets for proposals.

Reporting & Stewardship

• Maintain an annual grants calendar with deadlines for applications and reporting.
• Prepare interim and final grant reports in compliance with funder expectations.
• Support funder stewardship by providing impact updates, coordinating site visits, and assisting with recognition activities.

Documentation & Database Management

• Maintain accurate records in the donor CRM (e.g., Donor Perfect) for all grant activity.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in grant writing for nonprofit organizations.
• Demonstrated success securing grants from a variety of sources, including government, foundation, and corporate funders.

Skills & Competencies

• Exceptional writing, proofreading, and research skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant databases; experience with donor management systems is a plus.

• Familiarity with local and regional philanthropic landscapes.
