COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
• $25/hour
• Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (Work week may fluctuate 10 – 40 hours based on business needs)

ROLE IMPACT
The Liability Claims Adjuster supports the department safety and loss control program by investigating, evaluating, and resolving third-party liability claims. This role ensures fair and timely claim outcomes by applying relevant Texas liability laws, analyzing documentation, and negotiating settlements consistent with legal and agency guidelines. Success in this position is defined by accurate case handling, effective communication with stakeholders, and maintaining compliance with established claims policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of liability for incidents resulting in third-party injury or property damage.
• Interview employees, witnesses, and claimants; collect and evaluate documentation including statements, photos, medical reports, and estimates.
• Negotiate and prepare settlements based on liability findings, evidence, and applicable laws.
• Deny claims when evidence does not support liability.
• Document all claim activities within the electronic claims system to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 3–5 years’ experience as a claims examiner or adjuster in auto or commercial casualty insurance or a comparable environment.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating and negotiating bodily injury claims.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent software.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
• Texas Casualty Adjuster License or Texas All-Lines Adjuster License (required)

• Knowledge of Texas liability, tort, and transportation laws
• Experience managing municipal or governmental claim programs
