This position is for Monday - Friday from 3:00p.m. - 11:30p.m.

TITLE: Lead Custodian

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 1.0 FTE; 12-Month position

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified

GENERAL STATEMENT of RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Lead Custodian will be responsible in supporting the basic needs of the department/school and play an integral part in ensuring a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment for students to learn and develop.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Assists the Plant Foreman in hiring Custodial staff and issues assignments to each employee on the shift.
  • Assist in training and orientation of new custodians.
  • Keeps assigned building and premises, sidewalks and driveways neat and clean during working hours.
  • Sweeps, vacuums, dusts, and empty trash daily.
  • Cleans all sinks and other such fixtures.
  • Maintains a daily inventory of supplies and reports the need for replacements.
  • Reports safety hazards and the need for major and minor repairs.
  • Responsible for plant security during the shift and for final security of the plant at the close of the shift.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION:


High risk - Work is routinely performed in outdoor environments, including exposure to noise levels varying from low to mid based on the type of tools or equipment being used on at any given time, and being on your feet for extended periods of time. Daily exposure to hazardous materials such as blood born pathogens, high voltage, gases, or heights. At time extreme heat and cold weather will be encountered.

  • Sit approximately 0% of the time

  • Reaching with Hand and Arms on a regular basis

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • MSDS and Bloodborne pathogens training
  • Prefer two years of related experience
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must possess ability to work with and communicate with students, staff, and vendors
SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Following directions and meeting standards.
  • Providing attention to detail in assignments.
  • Comprehending reference books and manuals.
  • Organizing and maintaining supplies.

  • Cleaning chemicals
  • General custodial hand tools

The evaluation is done by the Site Plant Foreman.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:


The Lead Custodian reports directly to the Site Plant Foreman.
