SUMMARY
The Janitor/Maintenance position is responsible for providing housekeeping, janitorial, and maintenance duties as required. This position is classified as essential. The Janitor/Maintenance position provides for the overall maintenance and cleaning of the Montgomery County Youth Center which serves as a 24/7 residential facility. This person also provides maintenance and cleaning duties to the Juvenile Court area and outside grounds. Lifting is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Cleans administrative, residential, recreational and Juvenile Court areas including:
o Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping of floors;
o Dusting and polishing of office equipment and furniture;
o Washing floors, walls, carpeting and windows.
- Cleans all classrooms and replenishes supplies throughout the facility
- Laundry collection and counting responsibilities for bedding and building operations.
- Removes trash and debris from grounds to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
- Snow removal from sidewalks, walking paths, and driveways. Keeps all building entrances and exits clean, clear and safe from debris.
- Unclog rainspouts and gutters.
- Maintains general cleaning and cleanliness of building and grounds.
- Performs routine repair work for the facility including, but not limited to, repairing locks, doors, curtain rods, equipment, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting and replacing lights.
- Performs minor repairs and general maintenance to building HVAC and mechanical systems .
- Assists food service staff in unloading deliveries.
- Heavy lifting required such as food and janitorial supplies, furniture, filing cabinets, equipment, etc.
- On-call as needed for facility emergencies- snow removal, cleaning, etc..
- Other duties may be assigned by your supervisor or administrator as needed.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Must have a good general knowledge of industrial cleaning procedures and ability to operate various pieces of equipment such as carpet extractor, floor waxer, vacuum cleaner, snow blower, lawn equipment, power tools, etc.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to take oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work harmoniously with the public and staff.
- Must have good moral and ethical character.
- Must obtain a Pa. Criminal History Record check, Drug Test, Child Abuse clearance and FBI fingerprinting clearance prior to employment.
- Must have a physical examination report from a licensed physician.
