Location: Candidate MUST reside within the San Jose metropolitan area in order to accommodate onsite support for this Managed Services Client. No relocation is offered.

[RE]DESIGN is looking for an IT Support Engineer that is eager to advance their engineering talents in the field of IT. This position is a unique opportunity to learn a vast array of enterprise and infrastructure related technologies.

Position Summary

As an IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for onsite support and maintenance of our managed services client. Our customers range from medium businesses to large enterprises, spanning many domains including manufacturing, finance, media & entertainment, law firms, schools, and local governments. You will be our first tier of support, and will be in charge of prioritizing requests, troubleshooting problems, and working on challenging issues alongside senior staff members.

An ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and hands-on approach to customer interaction and time management. Prior experience with IT support is required. You will be required to occasionally work off-hours for planned maintenance or unplanned emergencies. While we are a fully remote workforce, this position will require daily, M-F from 8am-5pm PST, onsite support. This is a contract position for 6 months with the potentional of hiring full-time or extending at the end of the term.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Strong technical troubleshooting skills
• Administration and troubleshooting experience with Windows, macOS, and/or Linux environments
• Previous Desktop Support experience in an enterprise IT organization.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Experience with User Account support and knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Expected Knowledge and Experience

• A degree in computer science or a related field
• One to three years of experience within an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or helpdesk environment
• Experience administering virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM)
• Experience administering Active Directory
• Experience creating and maintaining process and procedure documentation
• Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and Linux
• Experience deploying and administering phone and videoconferencing systems.
• Experience following security policies and procedures, specifically for regulatory or security audit compliance (TPN, CDSA, HIPPA, PCI, SOC, etc.)
• Experience with basic L2/L3 networking, firewall and switch management
• Comfortable and skilled with the command line on any platform
• Scripting experience in any language.
