Location: Hybrid Remote with occasional meetings or events in St. Cloud or Minneapolis, MN
Reports To: Development Director or Executive Director
Hourly Rate: $22.00 $30.00/hour (commensurate with experience)

Wanlaijo / Bright Smiles Community Clinic & Dental is a nonprofit community health organization committed to increasing access to culturally responsive dental and health services in underserved communities. We focus on preventive care, health education, and community empowerment to address disparities in oral and overall health.
Position Summary
The Grant Writer will play a key role in advancing our mission by securing funding through persuasive, well-researched grant proposals. This position also supports administrative functions and assists with planning and executing community health events. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer with a passion for community health, eager to contribute to a collaborative team and make a meaningful impact.
Primary Responsibilities
Grant Writing & Development (70%)
- Research, write, and submit grant proposals, letters of intent, and supporting documents to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with program and finance staff to gather data, outcomes, and budgets for proposals and reports.
- Prepare accurate, timely reports for funders and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor funding trends relevant to community and dental health.
Administrative Support (15%)
- Assist with donor recordkeeping, file management, and development tracking systems.
- Support scheduling, internal communications, and basic documentation for fundraising activities.
- Help draft thank-you letters, impact summaries, and organizational reports.
Community Engagement & Events (15%)
- Support the planning and execution of community outreach events, health fairs, and fundraising campaigns.
- Attend local events to assist with logistics, promote programs, and engage with community members and partners.
- Help coordinate volunteer efforts and manage event-related materials.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred.
- 13 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills; ability to tailor writing to different audiences.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with health equity, public health, or dental health is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort using databases or CRM tools.
- Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for community events.
