Job Description

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment organization, is currently seeking Elementary School Teachers for the 2025-2026 school year at independent schools in the Charleston, SC area.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional and experienced lower school educator with a deep commitment to making a significant difference in the lives of our students. The successful candidate possesses the requisite skills to make learning joyful and meaningful for students, bringing creativity and dynamism to the classroom and beyond, while embracing the school’s mission and strategic priorities

Responsibilities of the Elementary Teacher:

  • Plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School division and throughout the school as a whole, sharing responsibilities for curriculum development and divisional priorities.
  • Design and implement inquiry-based project learning experiences, guided by student interests. Implement classroom instruction that includes whole group, small group, and individualized instruction.
  • Prepare assignments for students, review and provide feedback and/or grades.
  • Provide timely and targeted conversations with parents as needed to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of students and to foster strong parent/school partnerships.
  • Subscribe to the school's core values, mission and philosophy and seek passionately to promote them.
  • Create a classroom atmosphere that promotes joyful learning and a welcoming, purposeful school tone and culture.

Qualifications of the Elementary Teacher:

  • Bachelor's in Elementary Education or related degree required.
  • Master's degree (preferred)
  • Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme or have training in IB methodology.
  • Experience with Units of Study in Reading and Writing
  • Teaching experience using a student-centered approach to include blended learning strategies and individualized instruction.
  • Experience working with K-5 students.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Craft lessons to meet their academic needs
  • U.S. Work Authorization required.
