Electrical Controls Engineer
Responsibilities
The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting electrical distribution systems, manufacturing process controls, automation upgrades, and plant-wide control system improvements. This role provides technical expertise in PLC programming, HMI development, electrical troubleshooting, project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer partners with operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering teams to advance reliability, safety, and productivity across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for electrical distribution, industrial controls, automation systems, and PLC-based processes.
Troubleshoot and modify PLC logic, controls, and automation systems to support production reliability.
Develop, modify, and maintain HMI systems including Wonderware, Aveva, and Ignition platforms.
Support installation, coordination, and maintenance of electrical and control system projects.
Lead technical portions of project design, costing, quoting, and implementation for electrical and automation upgrades.
Provide engineering support for internally and externally developed control system projects.
Coordinate with contractors, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure safe and effective execution of electrical work.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, TPM practices, and process optimization efforts.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering
Experience in electrical controls or programming within a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of facility electrical distribution (12470VAC–120VAC)
PLC programming experience (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred)
HMI and SCADA programming experience (Ignition, FactoryTalk, Wonderware/Aveva)
Project management experience
Experience with TPM or maintenance management systems
Continuous improvement experience (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical
Experience with industrial robotics such as Motoman or similar systems
Understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, and NFPA 79 codes
Knowledge of electrical systems below 600V and industrial automation best practices
