About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Security Engineer to join our team in New York. This role is fully onsite (MondayFriday) and will play a critical part in securing our cloud infrastructure, applications, and data across multiple environments. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where security and resilience are top priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security controls across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP environments.
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Build and maintain automated security solutions (IaC, CI/CD pipelines, policy-as-code).
• Monitor cloud infrastructure for threats, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations.
• Collaborate with DevOps, IT, and engineering teams to embed security in application development and deployment.
• Lead incident response and forensic investigations related to cloud infrastructure.
• Conduct risk assessments, penetration testing, and security audits of cloud-based systems.
• Provide expert guidance on identity and access management (IAM), network security, and data protection in the cloud.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years focused on cloud security.
• Hands-on experience with one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native security tools (e.g., GuardDuty, Security Hub, Defender for Cloud, Prisma Cloud).
• Proficiency in scripting or automation (Python, Bash, Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Deep understanding of IAM, zero-trust principles, and container/Kubernetes security.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant certifications (CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer) a plus.
