The Contract Manager job position has been mainly established to support the project teams managing their contracts and to ensure that Lessons Learnt from the execution phase are conveyed back to the proposals team. Major responsibilities of the Contract Managers include contract review and negotiation of large-scale offshore projects while their involvement starts in the advanced tender phase. They will be part of the Business Solutions - Commercial Division and work closely with various teams of the group as members of a project’s team. Communication with clients, subcontractors and suppliers will be part of the job requirements. Attention to detail and analytical thinking are part of the skills required to perform the job.
Responsibilities
Review contracts during advance tender stage, providing input to negotiations (with direct clients and/or subcontractors) and ensuring compliance and appropriate flow down after project award.
Ensure all contracts conform to legislative requirements and meet company goals
Explain terms and conditions to managers and interested parties as well as ensure that employees understand and comply with company contracts.
Draft together with legal team a variety of contracts and agreements (S&P, agreements for products and services).
Evaluate subcontractors’/suppliers’ bids on contractual aspects and analyze potential risks involved with specific contract terms.
Ensure that company’s legal / internal contract documents are valid and well maintained.
Keep organized records of the Main Contracts status, obligations etc. properly maintaining company’s “Main Contract Registry”.
Create language standards for existing and new contracts.
Manage, interpret and update contractual provisions of existing contracts with direct clients and/or subcontractors.
Ensure notification and submission of requests, notices, and documents, subject to strict time limits.
As member of the project team, assist Project Manager (PMO) and Subcontract Manager (S&L Division) to manage contract related correspondence.
As member of the project team, assist Cost Controller to ensure that all deadlines and conditions described on contracts are met (e.g. payments and programme milestones).
Advise the project team on any aspects of project execution which deviate from the contract requirements.
Draft and manage claims, change orders or potential serious disputes, advise project team on these topics, collect necessary back up documentation to support and handle breach of contracts in a timely manner.
Establish milestone completion certificates and liaise with Commercial Counsel Manager and Finance team for the issuance, monitoring, maintenance and return of bonds.
Analyze contracts with an eye toward reducing costs and increasing profits.
Availability for frequent business travels, approximately 20% of working time.
6-10 years of proven work experience as a Contract Administrator, Contract Manager or relevant role in Offshore Wind, Construction or similar;
Advance training in Mechanical / Civil Engineering or similar field of expertise or a higher University degree in Law with proven experience in the cable business or Oil & Gas, or Offshore Wind Field;
Knowledge of contract preparation and management;
Knowledge of contract negotiation;
Knowledge of MS Office;
Knowledge of legal documentation and contracts;
Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language;
Excellent writing skills;
Must have experience of working in a corporate/business focused environment;
