Job Description

Russell Tobin has partnered with a leading logistics organization to support their growing business! This is a contract role (expected duration of 8-12 months with potential for extension/conversion to permanent) based in Detroit, Michigan.

We are seeking a CAD Designer responsible for creating detailed drawings of material handling equipment, work areas, and components based on existing examples while also providing design support for future projects. Drawings will require precision and attention to detail, including plan views and elevation views as needed. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and produce comprehensive drawing sets that support standardization of workspaces and designs across a large network of operations.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the design team to translate concepts into detailed models and drawings.
• Develop comprehensive drawing sets for material handling systems and workspaces.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project standards.
• Support design initiatives aimed at standardizing layouts across multiple facilities.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience operating CAD software with proficiency in managing layers.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting and Design or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience drawing in warehouse, industrial, or fulfillment center environments.
• Basic knowledge of material handling systems and storage components.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and BIM Navisworks.
• Strong communication skills for varying audiences.
• Excellent document management and organizational abilities.
• Conveyor design and layout experience.
• Ability to lead small project teams or groups.
