GENERAL SUMMARY:
Second Shift: 3:30pm- 12:00am Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the primary role is to produce machined parts by setting up and operating a CNC machine; maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* - Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
\n - Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
\n - Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools attachments, collets, bushings, cams gears, stops and pushers.
\n - Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
\n - Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards.
\n - Maintains specifications by observing milling, drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; trouble shooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls; identifying and sharpening/replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
\n - Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
\n - Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for needed repairs.
\n - Maintains continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
\n - Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
\n - Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
\n - Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
\n - Ability to assist and direct the cutting, machining, and configuration of complex block layouts prior to bonding to achieve final dimensional requirements.
\n - Adhere to Business Management System requirements

General \n - Conducts night time shutdown of machinery
\n - Maintains a clean and organized work area and general housekeeping
\n
\n
TYPICAL EQUIPMENT USED: \n - 3 or more axis machining center
\n - Turning lathe
\n - Various hand tools
\n - Tape measures, calipers and other measuring devices
\n - Carts, dollies and other heavy weight moving equipment
\n
\n
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES \n - Ability to train employees in the routine operation of the CNC in order to function as a back-up and/or additional shift coverage operator.
\n - Other related duties and projects as assigned.
\n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES \n - High school diploma or GED
\n - 1-3 years of experience in CNC machine operation
\n
\n
o Demonstrated understanding of tool holders and tool types
o Demonstrated understanding of differing feed and speed settings
o Demonstrated understanding of tool path following/alternative paths
\n - Conceptual skills
\n - Basic math skills
\n - Ability to operate & enter data into standard Windows based computers
\n - Good verbal and written communication skills
\n - Strong attention to detail
\n - Good interpersonal skills
\n - Analytical thinking/problem solving
\n - Excellent organizational skills
\n - Ability to multi-task and be dependable, flexible and adaptable to meet changing or multiple deadlines

\n - Ability to exercise judgment to solve operational problems where the answer is not apparent
\n - Mechanical aptitude
\n - Process understanding on issues relating to mixing ingredients to make products
\n - Ability to operate equipment (mixers, transfer tanks, ovens, saw, planer, lathe, milling, tumbler, dust collector, hand tools, fork lift)
\n - Ability to read and understand QC inspection documentation
\n - Visual acuity to identify surface quality defects 1/32" and larger
\n

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS \n - Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds
\n - Regular exposure to noise, dust, high heat and chemicals
\n - Regular exposure to fumes or airborne particles
\n - Frequent reaching with hands and arms
\n - Constant standing and use of hands while performing essential functions of the job
