Job Description

Buchanan Transportation is looking for professional, dedicated truck drivers for local delivery of commodities in the Mid-Atlantic region. No Over-the-Road Drivers are responsible for transporting different types of goods from distribution centers to customer locations using a truck. They are also required to perform inspections before and after a trip. These drivers also follow appropriate safety procedures to transport cargo and maintain logs of vehicle repair status and working hours. Truck Driver Essential Functions Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance Plan routes and meet delivery schedules Responsible for proper load securement Document and log work/rest periods and mileage spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions Collect and verify delivery instructions Report defects, accidents or violations Truck Driver Requirements Must have a current class A CDL license and DOT medical examination certificate
