Job Description

Summary/Objective

The grocery clerk position is responsible for maintaining guest service, generating sales, serve food, receiving guests, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, cash register operations (POS) and loss prevention in adherence to all company policy standards.


Essential Functions

-Ensure that each guest receives outstanding guest service by providing a guest friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.


-Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all food products and drinks.


-Handle food and beverage


-Communicate with BOH to ensure all orders requests are filled.


-Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to keep a positive attitude as a team member.


-Maintain an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions, test merchandise and advertisements.


-Perform all opening and closing duties assigned by managers and leads.


-Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance and restaurant housekeeping.


-Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock; ensure re-wraps are done promptly.


-Utilize packaging, wrapping material and ensure products are presented following the company standards.


-Adhere to all company policies, procedures and practices, including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.


-Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers.


-Communicate guest requests to management.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

No travel is expected for this position.


Required Education and Experience


1. High school diploma or GED.


Preferred Education and Experience

1. 1-3 years of sales experience.
