Behavior Intervention Specialist

When a group of families came together in 1957 to find services for their children with developmental disabilities, ACLD was born. Today, we are a leading not-for-profit agency employing 1200+ staff and providing over 70 program sites in Nassau and Suffolk. In the Behavior Support Specialist role you will complete psychological assessments and make recommendations for people supported emphasizing and increasing adaptive skills in a residential or day habilitation setting.
Specifically you will:
We require:
· Master’s degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology or applied psychology as it related to human development and clinical interventions and documented trainings in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; or a National Board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD; or a New York State license in mental health counseling:
· Minimum of five years of experience working directly with the I/DD population, including the development, implementation and monitoring of behavior support plans; and/or providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans
· In lieu of 5 years’ experience will consider candidates that have obtained OPWDD approved training or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior support plan development
· Complete required trainings in SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention)and CPR
· Clean, valid NYS driver’s license.
