Job Summary

The Audio Visual Installer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and testing of audio-visual systems in accordance with AVIXA standards. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering professional, reliable AV installations for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure audio-visual systems, including displays, projectors, speakers, control systems, and cabling infrastructure, following AVIXA performance standards.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and AV system designs to ensure accurate installations.
  • Mount and secure AV equipment, such as wall-mounted displays, ceiling projectors, and in-wall cabling, adhering to safety and building codes.
  • Perform cable terminations, routing, and management to maintain signal integrity and aesthetic standards.
  • Test and calibrate installed systems to verify functionality and compliance with AVIXA quality standards, including audio levels, video resolution, and control system performance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and clients to ensure installations meet project specifications and client expectations.
  • Document installation processes, including as-built drawings and equipment inventories, per AVIXA guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
  • Adhere to workplace safety protocols, including proper use of tools, ladders, and personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in audio-visual technology, electronics, or a related field is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of experience in AV system installation or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with AVIXA standards for installation, performance, and quality control.
  • Proficiency with AV equipment installation, including displays, projectors, audio systems, and control platforms (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron).
  • Strong understanding of signal flow, cable management, and basic networking for AV systems.
  • Experience with tools and techniques for cable termination (e.g., soldering, crimping) and rack building.
  • Ability to read and interpret AV system blueprints, schematics, and rack elevations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure high-quality installations.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), work at heights, and perform installations in confined spaces.
  • Flexibility to travel to job sites and work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

Preferred Certifications

  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) from AVIXA strongly preferred.
  • CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist - Installation) is a plus.
  • Dante Certification or other AV networking certifications.
  • OSHA Safety Certification.
