This is a remote position.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with various accounting software. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. The Assistant Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial statements
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with payroll processing
  • Generate financial reports and assist in budget preparation
  • Support tax preparation efforts by providing necessary documentation and calculations
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with corporate, non-profit, or governmental accounting standards
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, or Xero for daily bookkeeping tasks
  • Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or issues in financial records
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, ensuring adherence to double entry bookkeeping principles
Requirements
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero) is preferred
  • Familiarity with corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, or governmental accounting practices
  • Knowledge of GAAP principles and financial concepts is essential
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation is required
  • Strong understanding of debits & credits, journal entries, and bookkeeping practices
  • Ability to perform 10 key typing for data entry tasks efficiently
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for success in this position.
