Job Description

A K-12 school in Palmdale, CA is seeking a skilled Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for a contracted position covering the upcoming school year. This role plays a critical part in supporting students with diverse physical and developmental needs, ensuring access to quality physical education that promotes health, wellness, and motor skill development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized physical education programs tailored to students with disabilities or adaptive needs from kindergarten through grade 12
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to create inclusive activities and accommodate specific learning and mobility requirements
• Monitor and track student progress, adjusting lesson plans to meet evolving needs and promote maximum participation
• Utilize specialized adaptive equipment and modifications to ensure safety and accessibility during physical activities
• Promote physical fitness, coordination, and social interaction through engaging, age-appropriate exercises and games
• Maintain clear documentation and comply with all applicable educational standards and regulations

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid teaching credential/license with a focus on Adapted Physical Education or related field
• Experience working with children across the K-12 age span in a physical education or therapeutic setting
• Strong knowledge of adaptive physical education best practices and individualized education program (IEP) requirements
• Ability to create supportive, motivating environments that foster student confidence and physical development
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary teams
