Job Description: Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk
Position: Accounts Payable Clerk
Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Reports to: Accounting Manager / Controller
About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. In this role, you will manage the full A/P cycle, help maintain accurate vendor records, and ensure timely payments. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, with a hybrid work schedule (e.g., 2-3 days in-office per week, rest remote).
Key Responsibilities - Process invoices: review, code, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system.
- Verify invoice accuracy by matching invoices to purchase orders, contracts, or receipts.
- Prepare and process payments (checks, ACH, wire) to vendors.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor files, including W-9s, tax information, and payment terms.
- Assist with month-end closing: produce A/P aging reports and other necessary reconciliations.
- Support 1099 preparation (if applicable) and maintain required documentation.
- Collaborate with other teams (e.g., procurement, operations) to clarify invoice details or discrepancies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance A/P workflows and controls.
Qualifications / Skills - 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or clerical accounting work.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and MS Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) - for interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or coursework in accounting is a plus.
Working Conditions - Hybrid schedule: required in-office presence (2-3 days/week), remaining remote.
- Contract duration: initial 6"months with potential to convert to full-time based on performance and business needs.
Compensation - Hourly Rate: $28-$32/hour (depending on experience and skills)
- Alternatively, $50,000-$58,000/year (pro-rated for the contract period)
